Job Title: Network engineer.

Work Location: Hybrid

Job description:

We are looking for a Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our growing hardware and software network infrastructure. You will be an integral part of PPPLs IT team that is responsible for support of the PPPL network infrastructure and updates to devices that provide wired and wireless connectivity. The PPPL Network Engineer is responsible for installation and maintenance of communication networks within the organization. Duties will include support for wired and wireless networks, support of network requirements for PPPL experiments, and virtual private networks (VPNs). .

Core duties:

  • The Network Engineer is responsible for all IT networks that allow PPPL to communicate both internally and externally.

  • Your primary duties will include supporting upgrades of existing network architecture, maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, facilitating remote user access to system resources.

  • Support of PPPL experimental requirements, ensuring timely delivery of critical data, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary.

  • The Network Engineer will be expected to install new systems to improve the company’s communication infrastructure while maintaining the upkeep of existing networks. 

     

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: 

  • A bachelor's degree in a computer related field, such as programming, computer science, engineering, or other related degree.

  • Equivalent training and work experience may also be taken into consideration.

  • Must have demonstrable, hands-on prior network engineering experience in the field, either working with IT systems or in network administration. 

Job Title: NSTX-U Recovery Project Construction Coordinator

Work Location: onsite five (5) days per week, at Princeton University, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) 

Job description:

As Project Construction Coordinator this individual will work directly with the Associate Project Manager, Field Engineers, and support organizations in coordinating multiple construction, engineering, and onsite fabrication activities in support of the successful reassembly of the NSTX-U machine.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Perform the following in accordance with PPPL and NSTX-U policies, programs and procedures:  

  • Reporting to the Associate Project Manager, works directly with the Field Engineers and Lead Technicians (“project team”) and support organizations to facilitate a safely-executed and well-planned project. 

  • Assist project team in review and approval of work documents required for work execution. 

  • Collaborate with the project team ensure adequate inventories of tools and materials to support the scheduled work activities. 

  • Provides liaison between project team and PPPL fabrication services to ensure timely availability of PPPL-fabricated machine components, tools and fixtures. 

  • Provide and assist project team in conducting effective, well-organized plan-of-the-day and shift turn-over meetings 

  • Collaborate with project team and support organizations to identify resource and schedule issues in advance. 

  • Collaborates with project team and Title III support organization to ensure timely resolution of design changes via PPPL’s Engineering Change Notice and Non-Conformance Report processes. 

  • Assist project team close out completed work packages.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Education and Experience: 

  • High school, or GED equivalent is required. Associates degree preferred 

  • 10 years + experience in construction, operations, maintenance, outages at commercial nuclear power plants or Department of Energy national laboratories.  

  • 10 years + as shift manager/construction coordinator (preferred)   

    REQUIRED: 

  • Ability to work under highly disciplined controls and stringent safety environments 

  • Ability to understand written, detailed work instructions 

  • Ability to communicate with supervisor, co-workers and front-line workers  

  • Strong inter-personal skills in working with multi-trade workforce such as electricians, riggers, and heavy machine operators. 

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work without medical restrictions 

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds 

  • Work will be near static magnetic fields. 

  • Capable of climbing ladders and working at heights from scaffolding, platforms and powered aerial lifts without medical restrictions.
